Brett Chicko-  Class of 1985

 

If you lived in Norwell in the 1980s, you couldn’t help but knowabout Brett Chicko’s accomplishments on the wresting mats and football field at Norwell High School.

 

As a sophomore, Brett earned a second place finish at the 1983 Massachusetts State Wrestling Division 2 Championships. As both a junior and senior, Brett not only became the Massachusetts State Wrestling Division 2 Champion in his weight class, but also won his event at the New England Wrestling Champions.

 

During his junior and senior year, Brett was named a Boston Globe Wrestling All-scholastic Division 2 in 1983, 1984 and 1985. As a senior, Brett was named the Boston Globe Division 2 Wrestler of the Year. As a member of the Clipper football team, Brett earned varsity letters during all four of his high school years.

 

Brett earned many distinctions for his gridiron play, including being named a Boston Globe Football All-scholastic: Division 4 (1983) and a Boston Herald Football All-scholastic: South Shore (1983 and1984). During his senior year, Brett was named as a Boston Globe Football All-Scholastic: Division 4, as well as the Boston Globe Football Player of the Year: Division 4. That same year, Brett was also honored as a National Football Foundation Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete.  

 

During his senior year, Brett was recruited and offered a full athletic scholarship to play football at Boston College, where he lettered in 1986, 1987, and 1988. He earned a marketing degree from Boston College in 1989. Brett also earned degreesfrom Northeastern University and Temple University Schoolof Podiatric Medicine and is now a podiatric foot and ankle surgeon. Brett and his wife Mary Ann currently reside inFredericksburg, Virginia and are the proud parents of Audreyand Evan.
