Gordon Wells - Class of 1962
Gordon Wells was a four-year student-athlete at Norwell HighSchool, competing in baseball, basketball, cross-country and track and field.
While a member of the track and field and cross-country teams, Gordon competed in eighty meets, finishing 1st seventy-six times in events ranging from the 440-yard dash to the one-mile run. Representing Norwell High School in the 1960 South Shore Principal’s Cross Country meet and the Massachusetts State Cross Country meet at Franklin Park, Gordon finished 1st in both races and set new course records in both, covering the 2.5 mile courses in 12.38 and 12:35.8, respectively. That same year, running the 880-yard run in the State Track meet, he finished 1st with a record time of 1:59.2, following that up with a new record at the same distance at the South Shore Interscholastic meet.
Gordon went on to attend University of Michigan where he competed in baseball,football and indoor track. Gordon is married to his wife of thirty years, Judi. They have four daughters andfive grandchildren and live in Weymouth,Massachusetts.
